The rare Saturday morning stillness…..
Saturdays are either swim practice or swim meets at the happiMESS house so those rare sleep-in days are pretty precious to us all.
This Saturday is extra unusual as the eldest girl baby is off on a college recruitment weekend in PENNSYLVANIA?!? Pennsylvania, people what the world and I ain’t even gonna pretend I didn’t have to double check how to spell Pennsylvania! As the young people say ” I am SHOOK.” Haha! She and her Daddy have taken off to Amish country to check out this lovely little college and their swim team. I’m all for her striking out into the world to find her place and have her own great adventure but my heart isn’t sure its ready for that much adventure. At any rate this is just a first step on a big journey and no decisions are being made today. She’s applied to a few schools and has been accepted to them all now we are working and waiting on scholarship packages to be dispersed but I’m leaning toward University of Phoenix online and her living at home forever at least I feel that way today((smile)).
In other news on the home front Em is having 6 or 7 friends of over, I’m really not sure how many??
So I’ll have to cut my coffee drinking a little short so I can start prepping for that and ya’ll these crazy kiddos have requested fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and macaroni ‘n cheese. I offered to do fondue or lasagna or make your own pizzas (ya’ll remember that great crust recipe I shared the other day, right?). But nope these kiddos want some real stick to your ribs groceries! AND ICE CREAM it’s 29 degrees outside but they want homemade ice cream. I found this ice cream recipe this summer and really like it, it’s very creamy and yummy. I’ll share the kitchen adventure over on Instagram @my_happimess I’m sure messes and chaos will follow.
Next weekend has us back on the blocks for high school swim as we kick of the season with an invitational that is hosted by our team. So I hope to enjoy this lovely morning at home.
